Dear Parents / Carers,
Please find attached your monthly update from staff in each room.
There are going to be a couple of changes over the coming weeks with the structure of our staffing.
I would like to welcome Katie Rule back on our team. Katie will return to working in the baby room as a key worker, taking over Nicola’s children. Nicola Duncan is moving to the 2’s room as the new Senior, taking on Hayleigh’s children and Hayleigh McAvoy is moving into our 3-5’s room.
Gail Murdoch will continue in a Senior role overseeing the 2-5 year old children. Whilst still working with our 2 year olds.
It is with mixed feelings that I make my next announcement. Hailey Dalrymple is moving away from the area and, is therefore, having to leave Dollar Nursery School at the end of April. She will be missed by us all.
I am extremely pleased to announce that from September we will have Gail Morton, an Early Years Teacher, working in our 3-5’s. Gail is an experienced teacher who will join us to work closely with staff and children throughout the week.
You will have noticed we have put a safety gate on one of our rooms. For most of the day this will be open, however, as we have many children currently moving from our baby room which have the safety gates, we felt it would help with their transition to the 2-3’s group. It can be useful, for example, when encouraging children to get ready for a walk, focusing upon dressing themselves rather than wandering out of the room.
If you have any queries, please discuss with a member of staff.
Updating our resources is an on-going process. We have sourced new items for the garden as well as a new microwave for the kitchen, cutlery and tableware.
Every month we buy resources for every room, this month a number of new rugs were purchased as well as games, puzzles, art and craft materials, musical instruments and lots of books.
We also now have a new fire alarm system.
An important aspect of the development of the nursery is staff training. A number of staff have attended courses recently. Individual staff have given feedback to all staff when they have attended a course.
As a nursery we are adopting the “Makaton” sign language. All staff attended training one evening last week. This will be developed when two members of staff attend detailed training in the coming months.
All staff are attending a full days Paediatric First Aid training course this month, which is in line with current guidelines.
We have been approached by a pupil from Alva Academy who is taking part in a charitable expedition to Nicaragua in 2018. As part of her fundraising she will be holding an Easter event at Dollar Nursery School on Tuesday, 11th April 2017. Please find attached a letter from Niamh Adamson providing information about the event.
We hope you have a lovely Easter break and look forward to our Summer Term.
